I picked up a second box set of Cryx off of WereRogue on Tuesday. They'd been partially painted before, and had to be stripped. He stripped them before giving them to me, but they needed to be cleaned up some. I started cleaning them yesterday morning.
I'm still waiting on the Slayer. It's currently in a bath of Simple Green. I've got the other models mostly cleaned and off their bases now.
I started scuplting the bases for two of them as well. This set is getting a Pirate Ship theme. I've got the planks for those two bases scuplted, now they just need to be painted.
The biggest problem I have so far is that they're missing one piece, and so far, have two broken pieces. I'm emailing Privateer Press today about getting some replacement parts.
Color Ideas:
- German Grey for metal plates
- Dark Green/Scorpy Green for something
- Bone colors for ribs around soul furnace
- Blighted Gold (I wish)
- Steel Plate or Gunmetal Grey for mechanical bits.
- Honed Steel/Polished Steel highlights on mechanical bits and rivets.
Using those colors, I'll probably need a gloss or satin finish over the metal plates. Not entirely certain, but I imagine it will be too flat otherwise. Might stand an addition of Metallic Medium to the German Grey in the base coat.
